Senior Accountant
Location: Irvine, CA (On-Site)
Employment Type: Direct Hire
Compensation: $80,000 - $140,000 DOE
Our client, a rapidly growing and well-established organization in the food distribution and manufacturing industry, is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join its accounting team. This role offers the opportunity to play a key part in financial reporting, month-end close, audit support, cost analysis, and process improvement initiatives within a fast-paced environment.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong accounting foundation, manufacturing industry experience, and a proactive approach to identifying efficiencies and improving financial processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare and review account reconciliations, including cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and other balance sheet accounts.
- Coordinate and assist with external audit activities, including the preparation of schedules and supporting documentation.
- Perform cost accounting and inventory analysis, partnering closely with operations to ensure accurate product costing.
- Prepare financial statements in accordance with GAAP and provide meaningful variance analysis to management.
- Maintain and enhance internal controls, accounting procedures, and compliance initiatives.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, and other departments on business initiatives and process improvements.
- Support ERP system enhancements, automation efforts, and financial reporting improvements.
- Assist with special projects and provide accounting support across multiple business units as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required.
- Minimum 7 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Experience managing month-end close and preparing financial statements.
- Strong external audit experience, including audit preparation and auditor collaboration.
- Manufacturing, distribution, or inventory-based accounting experience required.
- Solid understanding of GAAP, cost accounting principles, and inventory valuation.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex formulas, data analysis, and reporting.
- Experience with QuickBooks Online preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or other ERP systems is a plus.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
